Democracy for the Middle East

June 06, 2002

Just another US-sponsored dictator

Mubarek is in Washington for talks. Tom Friedman offers some recommendations for his stagnating country the total exports of which are smaller than Costa Rica's.

I read in yesterday's Times that Egypt's president, Hosni Mubarak, says he warned the U.S. of a plot by Al Qaeda before 9/11 and that he has a new plan for a Palestinian state. I suppose that's all to the good, but frankly, none of it leaves me feeling reassured, for one simple reason: We don't need Egypt to be our policeman, we need it to be our progressive.

The most important issue when considering democracy for the ME,is to be aware that the big majority of the arab citizens are now tottaly awar that all the Dictators from Mubarak to the smalest one's are only Agent's and implanted by foreign powers to guard their interests and suppress and oppress their own nations to fulfil their masters wishes........
What is also important to consider as well that what the Arab Dictators report to their masters abroad
for being their only real and loyal alies in the region and that the citizens will revolt if they were not ruling by the iron fist is merely a Big lie,in fact they are the biggest enemies of the west for creating and making their people live in hell .
