Regime Change II

Since Abu Bakr's revolutionary column in the Palestinian Authority Daily, another shoe has dropped that may indicate where the Arab-Israel crisis is headed. In an interview with Brian Lehrer yesterday, neoconservative scholar Robert Kagan 'reluctantly' called for international intervention in the Arab-Israel crisis (click here for a stream of Lehrer's entire radio show which began with a lengthy local health story.) Taken together these two remarkable (if little noticed) comments lend credence to the idea that Bush and Sharon have decided to replace the Palestinian leadership, Iraq-style. Three questions come to mind. Is this really being planned to take place under the cover of international intervention, an idea historically associated with the Arab position? If so, what agreements or understanding have come about such that Israel now feels that she can abide an external military presence in Judea and Samaria? Are Britain and Jordan already on board?
